Install TWRP for Galaxy S7 running Exynos chip of carrier Variants

Steps to install TWRP for Samsung Galaxy S7 using Exynos chip of carrier Variants

  1. Enable Developer Options. To activate you go to Settings -> About Device -> Build Number (tap about 7 times until success message)
  2. To enter Settings -> Developer options and Activate OEM Unlock.
  3. Download and install Samsung USB Driver from the link above.
  4. Download TWRP recovery from the link above. Make sure you download in .tar format and not img format.
  5. Download now from the link above. Extract the zip file on your computer using 7zip or any other decompression tool. Now open Odin3 v3.10.7.exe, you will see a new window open as shown below.
  6. Now power off your phone and boot your device into Download mode. To do so, press and hold the . button Volume Down + Home + Power at the same time for a few seconds. You will get an alert on your device, press the . button Volume up to confirm this warning will boot your device into Download mode.
  7. Now connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable and you will now receive a message on Odin and see a blue status as shown above.
  8. Press the AP button in Odin, this will open a window allowing you to browse the firmware files. Navigate to the .tar file you downloaded and click OK. Open the Options tab in Odin and make sure there is only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time is selected (picture above).
  9. Now, press the Start button and wait for the process to finish. You will receive a success message in the ODIN log and the word PASS in the blue form.
  10. Now press and hold the . button Volume Up + Home + Power in a few seconds. This will boot into TWRP Recovery.
  11. You will now get to a screen asking you if you want to allow editing of the system. Swipe left to continue. Remember this will enable dm-verity and you won’t be able to boot your device until you install SuperSU or dm-verity and encryption disabled on your device.
    Note: If you want to root your Galaxy S7 just install the SuperSU file and reboot the device. On the other hand, if you don’t want to root your device, you will need to flash ‘dm-verity and encryption disabled‘ to be able to start your device. You only need to install one of these files to get the phone system bootable.
  12. Select the Wipe option and then swipe to select the data format on your device.
  13. Now download and copy the SuperSU zip file or ‘dm-verity and force encryption‘ from the link above and copy it to your phone. Make sure you still have TWRP recovered, you will need to copy the files while you are still in TWRP.
  14. Now install the zip file you copy by selecting Install in TWRP and then browse through the SuperSU zip file or dm-verity and encrypt and then swipe to confirm the installation.
  15. Restart your device and then wait for it to boot up.

You have successfully installed TWRP custom recovery on your Galaxy S7.
