Oppo’s Hot Apps and Games folders are the place to find new apps. However, by default, it creates folders for hot apps and games. Most of the Chinese OEMs have started showing advertisements and promotions in their apps and services. Placing ads and app ads helps smartphone manufacturers reduce the price of their phones. We as consumers benefit from the ease of getting a great smartphone at a lower price. But all this comes at a cost of user experience.
If you own an Oppo or Realme smartphone, you may have noticed these folders of apps and games appear in the default launcher. These are the apps being promoted on the platform. Therefore, you may not even need them but you will still see the application folders.
Luckily, you can turn off the singing app and game folders in ColorOS. Turning off the option gets rid of folders from the default launcher. So, if you are interested in removing the ad folders, check out the instructions below. Moreover, you can check how to change performance mode in ColorOS.
Turn off ColorOS Games & Apps folder
This feature can be turned off through the App Market settings. This is Oppo’s own app store where users can find new apps to download on their devices running ColorOS. Follow the steps below to disable ad folders.
- Launch App Market on your device.
- Click the tab Shared located at the bottom right.
- Now tap on the icon Setting at the top right of the screen.
- Turn off options Hot Apps & Games.
After you disable the option, you will no longer be able to see folders appear on the home screen. Furthermore, doing this will remove the folder from the application list. It wouldn’t be fair to get rid of folders entirely at once as some users might benefit from having it. Some app recommendations can actually be helpful for people who want to discover new apps. Therefore, this feature is not necessarily bad. Therefore, if you want to check out new apps and games, we recommend enabling the games and apps feature in ColorOS.
However, for all those who are not willing to put out advertising banners and announcements, turning this feature off will help. We are glad that Oppo has provided the option to disable this feature. Alternatively, you can also prevent the App Market from sending notifications. To do this, go to the App Market settings and disable the option Alert Notice. You will no longer receive notifications with information about activities from the App Market.
