How to Install TWRP and Root Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Running Marshmallow

Steps to take

  1. Download and install USB Driver for your computer.
  2. Download Odin V3.10.7 from the link above.
  3. Extract the Odin file to get the file to run.
  4. Open Odin v3.10.7.
  5. Reboot phone into Download mode with 3 buttons Home + Power + Volume Down for a few seconds after the phone is turned off.
  6. Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable, once it’s in Download Mode and you wait for the color to turn green on Odin software.
  7. Download the SpaceX kernel from the link above. Be sure to download the file in the .tar.md5 format. Also, download the correct files for your phone.
  8. Add the SpaceX kernel (.tar.md5) file to Odin by selecting the . button AP/PDA on Odin.
  9. Next click on the “Start” to proceed with the installation.
  10. Restart the phone.
  11. Now install SuperSU-2.67.apk (Link above) on your device to root.
  12. If you want to install TWRP, download the file of “TWRP-3.0_MM_S6_by_ManhIT.tar.md5” for the version of your device from the link above.
  13. Again boot your device into Download Mode as described above.
  14. More “TWRP-3.0_MM_S6_by_ManhIT.tar.md5” using the AP/PDA button on Odin.
  15. Now click on the button “Start” to install TWRP on your phone.

You can boot into TWRP recovery by pressing and holding Home + Power + Volume Up for a few seconds after turning off your phone. You can also flash to use TWRP if you don’t want to install it through the SuperSU app. You can also flash the kernel using a custom TWRP recovery if you want to do so downloading the kernel’s zip file instead of .tar.md5.
