These tips will help you make your device look the way you want.
1. Change home screen
The most popular and impactful way to change the look and feel of your device’s home screen is to change the wallpaper. You can do this by following these steps:
Settings -> Display -> Wallpaper -> Set wallpaper
Then you can choose between different wallpapers or you can use one of your pictures and you can even choose if you want to change the lock screen wallpaper and you can set the device randomly change wallpaper every day.
Changing your smartphone’s launcher is the easiest and best way to customize its look. Huawei allows you to change the default launcher by doing the following:
Move in Settings -> Apps & notifications -> Default apps -> Launcher
Now you just need to select the launcher and you’re done. Xiandroid feels that Nova Launcher and Evie launcher are the best to use.
2. Change display properties
Smartphone screens have reached a point where even the screens on mid-range and low-end devices are really good. The problem is not everyone finds the manufacturer’s calibration satisfactory. Thankfully, with EMUI You can change the way the screen displays colors by changing the color mode and temperature. The color temperature of the display can be changed on smartphones from many manufacturers. Where EMUI is different is that it allows you not only to choose between warm and cool but also lets you tweak it until you find the sweet spot. You can access these settings by doing the following:
Move in Settings -> Display -> Color mode and temperature
These tips will help you feel more in control of your device by making it work the way you want it to.
1. Turn on gesture navigation
Bored of three navigation buttons? Well, worry does not cause Huawei to have your back. They have included the implementation of gesture navigation for EMUI. You can enable it by going to:
Settings -> System -> System Navigation -> Single Button Navigation
It’s a very intuitive way to navigate your phone. You press the button once to go back, hold it home, swipe left or right to access recent apps, and swipe up to access the Google Assistant.
2. Turn on motion gestures
Huawei has included some nifty motion gestures for ease of use. You have the option of taking calls just by raising the phone to your ear, taking a screenshot by swiping the screen with 3 fingers, lifting to wake, and flipping to not disturb a few names. You can access these options by following these steps:
Settings -> Smart assist -> Motion control
You can enable the ones you find useful and disable them if you find them annoying.
Here are some very useful additional settings for you to experiment with.
PrivateSpace (Private Space)
App locks are pretty common, but they’re more of a nuisance than they’re useful. It basically adds an extra step to accessing your information. This is where PrivateSpace comes in. The most underrated feature of EMUI in my opinion. It is hardly ever talked about but is very useful. It does what it says. Basically, you can access a completely different phone on one device just by unlocking it with another finger. It is useful for people who use the same phone for their business and personal. You can enable it by going to:
Settings -> Security and privacy -> Privacy -> On
You now have a separate space in your phone that only you can access with your fingerprint or registered pattern.
Twin . App
If you have more than one account on Facebook or WhatsApp, then this tip will make your life much easier. What you need to do is:
Move in Settings -> Apps & notifications -> Dual apps
and then select the app you want to copy. What it does is it runs another instance of the same application independent of the other instance. So you can have two functional WhatsApp accounts on a single phone, and they will even have a ticker so you can choose external icons.
