Fix Gmail notifications not showing on Oxygen OS

Known among Android enthusiasts as the best Android skin, Oxygen OS certainly has its merits. In my opinion, lock and file integration app, parallel apps, fast app launcher etc are some of the features that make it even better than stock Android. But Oxygen OS really has its shortcomings and one of them is the lost Gmail notifications. Luckily, if you have root access, you can fix lost Gmail notifications on Oneplus Oxygen OS.

Oxygen OS, like many other OEM skins from China, has very strong battery optimization. This often kills background services that you might not want to be killed. That’s especially annoying with communication apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, or even Gmail. Usually, you can fix this by simply excluding the app from battery optimization. There are some really effective tips to save battery on Android devices and I would recommend you to try them out.

To do this, go to Setting -> The battery and you will find the option Battery optimization here. Guaranteed All of application selected on the dropdown at the top and scroll down to the apps you want to exclude from battery optimization. Tap the app and select Is not optimization from the pop-up dialog, then press ACCOMPLISHED.

Sadly, excluding Gmail from battery optimization doesn’t seem to work, for some reason. And considering that this is an age-old bug with Oxygen OS that still hasn’t been fixed, it’s possible a fix may not be coming from OnePlus any time soon.
