Change status bar on Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus without root

We’ve talked in detail about . before Substratum and why it works on Samsung devices running on OS Android Nougat. Coincidentally if you own a Samsung device running on the official version of Android Nougat then Substratum will give you a list of customizations that you normally don’t recognize and you won’t need to root the device. But thanks to the Substratum team and coincidence, you can put the device Samsung Galaxy as if it had installed a custom ROM. Today we will show you how you can take advantage of this and change the status bar icon on your Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

To do this, we will be using the Substratum theme engine and therefore require a background theme that can change the status bar icons. Luckily for us, developer OhayouBaka has created a theme that you can download and install from the Play Store for free. Although the theme was made for use on Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, it should work on any Samsung devices runs on an official Nougat firmware from Samsung.

Of course you also need to have the Substratum theme installed on your phone.

Substratum Integration for Samsung (Addon Key)

Although Samsung Nougat devices have many similar codes that do not automatically guarantee Substrat compatibility. That’s because Substratum was originally used on ROMs based on AOSP and there is no copy Samsung ROMs. Therefore, to underpin Samsung devices, the team behind the popular tool created an Addon key to enable Substratum themes for Samsung devices.
